BIO:

Hi there, My name is Wesley Standlee. I became a licensed ham in September of 2010 and upgraded to a general on November 6th, 2010. I decided to join the ham radio hobby after spending several years talking on the CB radio whenever I went on road trips, which was quite often. Radio communications have always fascinated me and now I can explore them to my hearts content. I very much enjoy listening up and down the bands of the HF spectrum, my preference is 20 meters. I also spend lots of time on 2 meters talking to folks all over town and occasionally doing distance testing when either I or one of the members of the group are headed out of town. I love trying to see how many miles we can talk on simplex! I take pride in my current 2 meter base station and antenna setup as I have been told that I have one of the best 2 meter simplex signals in San Antonio (partially due to my location and altitude). I owe my ham radio "career" to my father Larry Standlee (WA5NTF) who has been a ham since 1965. Dad and I spend a few hours each weekend, and sometimes during the week, chasing DX or calling CQ on 20 meters. My dad and I can usually be found together at any ham fest within 150 miles of San Antonio. I am currently working on getting my "worked all states" certificate from the ARRL. I love getting QSL cards! Another aspect of ham radio I enjoy is the buying and selling of equipment. Since joining the hobby a year ago I have bought and sold over a dozen radios ranging from 2m mobile radios to 65 lb. HF rigs. Good DX and 73s to all!
