BIO: I was originally licensed as WN5UEP as a Novice in July of 1976 and quickly upgraded to Advanced so that I could get the “N” changed to a “B”. I recieved a new call K5WDB in January of 2014 after 38 years wilth my old call WB5UEP. My novice rig was an Ico 720 transmitter with a Radio Shack DX-60 receiver in which I had to manually switch the receiver to standby each time I transmitted. I could receive the complete novice portion without tuning the dial on the receiver. This did help me in coping CW in the worst conditions however and I became a CW nut. I run as many modes as possible including PSK and SSTV. I enjoy operating CW on the HF bands. I check into CW and phone traffic nets and just listen until needed while I work on projects or browse the internet. I was a short wave listener before becoming a Ham so I like to listen more than talk most of the time. I currently run a Kenwood TS-690s barefoot as my primary transceiver and work QRP via a TenTec Argonaught 515, and Yaesu FT-817, Heathkit HW-8, and other assorted QRP rigs. Antennas are an inverted-Vee, a Cushcraft R7000 vertical,a Cushcraft MA5B minibeam at 20 feet and a 5 element 6 meter beam at 27 feet. I run an Icom IC-821 for satellite work and for local VHF/UHF work. I have a Micro-Node for IRLP and Echolink. I run all modes and dabble in ATV. I worked in the computer field as an IT department manager and I am now retired. I love working with computers and riding my motorcycle which carries VHF/UHF on board. I also carrry the FT-817 on my bicycle with HF, UHF and VHF capibility. I have a suprising amount of contacts via the bicycle.I look forward to hearing you or seeing you on the bands.

My other interests are playin the Guitair, mandolin, and Ukulele. I love to Sail, travel, and hike the many wonderful places within Texas and the rest of the United States, of course backpacking my FT-817.
