BIO: Obtained my Technician ticket on August 23, 2009 and my General Ticket on Saturday, November 21st and was lucky enough to score 100% on both exams. My HF Rig, is an ICOM IC-756PROIII with its own dedicated power supply, an ICOM PS-125 DC P/S. Recently acquired a Heathkit SB-220 RF Amplifier and a MFJ-989 VersaTuner V for tuning various "Wire" antennas and a Palstar PALSTAR AT-AUTO 1500 Watt Automatic Antenna Tuner, along with an Ameritron AL-811 Amplifier and an Alpha 87A Amplifier and a MFJ-868 Giant SWR/Wattmeter. I am in the process of installing a tower to mount Yagis for different bands to begin working distance stations. Currently, I am refurbishing a Mosley CL-33 antenna and a 20M and 6M Yagi antenna. For my VHF/UHF Rigs, I have an ICOM IC-2800H Dual Band Mobile and an ICOM IC-2200H unit with the D-START card in it for digital work. They both have their own dedicated antennas on 30' push-up poles. Recently, a 1.25M Jetstream JT220M was acquire along with a Tram 1494 antenna mounted at about 40 feet on my tower. I am in the process of configuring an ICOM IC-7000 to be intalled in my pickup, using an ICOM AH-4 Auto Tuner and a screwdrive antenna for the HF Antenna and am using a tri-magnet Tram magnetic base with a 2M Hustler CG-144. In addition to the dedicated ICOM PS-125 DC P/S, I have an Astron RS-50M DC P/S and an Astron RS-35M DC P/S and two backup/loaner Power Supplies, a MFJ-4245 Switching DC P/S and a MS PS-53, 50Amp DC Regulated Power Supply. The HF Antennas are a Radio Wavz 80M - 10M G5RV Lite and a Comet 250X 160M - 6M Vertical Dipole. The 2M antenna is a Vetical with radials by Steve Bozak. I am very lucky to have several "Elmers" near where I live that are most happy to assist me in my quest for new knowledge. In my spare time, I have begun to study for the Amateur Extra Ticket. I am in the process of restoring a Mosley Classic - 33, 10M, 15M and 20M, 3-element tribander and a Cushcraft 13B2, 2M, 13-element antenna and a M2 Antenna System's 6M5XHP 5-Element 6M Yagi that will go on top of the tower. I am doing these projects to help further my knowledge of antenna systems. I recently acquired a 52' Rohm 25G tower that appeared to be almost brand new and a permit from the City was obtained to erect it. The tower, with help from my wife and about a dozen helpful Ham Friends and a "boom truck", went up in August of 2010. It will be used in the very near future in hopes of being able to work some European countries with the antennas that I am restoring. |
